21 Year Old Mom Accused of Theft
"Bibili lang pu ako nd diaper at gatas."
This was the statement of Ma. Kristina Ganggay after being brought to the Dasmariñas Police Station (DPS) because of theft, August 17.
Ganggay was not the one caught unplugging the N3650I from the charger according to the complainant Juliet Dela Cruz, owner of the mini grocery store in Lot 2 Blk 35 South Meridian Homes Dasmariñas, Cavite. Two boys, who were not identified by the suspect, were the ones who stole the phone. However, the said boys escaped together with a girl named Regine and left Ganggay caught by the Barangay Tanods.
According to Luzviminda Padua, Dela Cruz' helper, the unidentified boys first asked for the price of a particular brandy then sat on the customers' chair near the counter and unplugged the phone from its charger. Ganggay, however, asked for a diaper and a milk.
Ganggay admitted that she was with the other suspects, but did not mention the name of the two boys. She said that she did not know the names of the two because Regine was her only friend in that group.
However, Dela Cruz said that she will pursue the case to serve as a lesson to Ganggay.
If proven guilty, Ganggay will be imprisoned from one mont to 14 years and eight months in jail or will bail for P6000 to P12000.
Other suspect are being searched by the DPS.
Ganggay is 21 years old and has two kids.

apathy is the worst enemy
Dear Hope,
Fraud has been very famous every election. For it is very much seldom that the nation's voice reign. Most of the time, those who have much money also have mush power. This cliché made Filipinos indolent to vote. Because it has been a belief that voting is very much synonymous to waste of time.
I read on newspaper weeks ago that millions (i cannot recall the exact number) of Filipinos still have to register to be able to vote on the 2010 National Elections. Millions of Filipinos are sleeping on the bed of apathy wasting their right. MIllions almost gave up the fight.
So let us think. What could be the problem during elections? Is it the greedy politicians who uses their every inch of power just to stay on the position? Or is it the common people who sleep on the bed of nothingness?
If we come to think of it, the number of ordinary Filipinos is far greater than that of the politicians. The former could win, if only they are fighting.
Indeed, abusive politicians are much of a problem. But the worst problem of this nation is the apathy which most of us take care of. We will not won if we ourselves will not embrace the right given to us- the right to vote. We will not win the fight if we ourselves are not interested in fighting in the first place.
We have to grasp the opportunity to choose our leader. We have to consider the fact that anytime, sooner or later, our very right to vote could be taken away. Hope is in our own hands, let us free it from apathy for it is very much needed in this country.
We should remember that Dr. Jose Rizal initiated the revolt against the Spanish colonialism- Filipinos won. Senator Ninoy Aquino's death threatened the EDSA revolution- Marcos lost his power. And President Cory Aquino brought democracy back- and we still have now.
let us not waste their sacrifices. Filipinos, wake up, fight, you are the hope of this nation. Vote.

the accreditation rush
The accreditation was worse than i expected. well, i not in terms of the results, but in terms of the experiences of the students themselves.
i never thought that my class would be so worried because of that. the newsletters published were full of corrections i never anticipated. the instructors were like monsters (their fatigue made them monsters). and the whole college seemed to be at the edge of the cliff.
Well, to be honest, i really find it hard to understand them.For me, the greatest error was on their shoulders. Sorry for being so morbid, but i cant accept the fact that the students are to blame on this.
Firstly, since Sr RS is not a Journalism major, he could not monitor the newsletter activity as good as the journ majors. Then why on earth he become the intstructor-in-charge? If the college really wants to have better outcome, the instructors would have been picked very well. I do not deny Sr RS' capabilities, but come on, let us just accept the fact that he is more on communication than on journalism.
Secondly, the instructors edited the articles as if they do not care about the outcome. After one instructor edited the article the other instructor got angry because of the erroneous writing. I dont get it! indeed, we have to write scholarly, we have to apply every inch of learning we acquire in class, but we are students, and instructors are far more experienced than us. Where was the word "understanding" on that?
Last is that we are not excused on our minor subjects. If only the group in charge was excused, they could work for one whole day and the result would have been better and faster. Well, I know the reason why we are not excused though.
Lessons learned?
We, students, should not rely on instructors.The cliche "we are just students" should not be in our minds. We should work as professionals as early as today.
We should work as one and set internal conflicts aside. I dont want to elaborate on this further (hehe). cooperation is the key.
And lastly, we should bear in mind every lessons we had on our previous class. We should remember that we should learn in school and application should be inevitable.

from paper to HD flat
I have seven active social networking accounts. I always check and update them every time I surf the net. Despite the budget insufficiency (since I don’t have internet at home), I still check them on at least once a week. I even sacrificed my food and load allowance just to make them up to date.
I learned the basics of computer during my third year high school days; I forced myself to study it because I felt so left behind. I had my first electronic account during the said year, it is my oldest account, and I still have it at present- my friendster account. I saw friendsters’ evolution. From the uniform profile layout to the personalized one, from testimonial to comment to photo comment, from status to shout outs to bulletin boards, from pictures to different photo albums, from true friends to unknown friends to fan accounts to groups; friendster has evolved so much.
This development never stopped at friendster. Facebook, multiply, plurk, twitter and other social networking sites are now dominating the World Wide Web. Not to mention the on-line shopping, dating, school, job availabilities and other activities I never imagined entering the web are now available on line. And journalism did not escape this progress.
Broad sheets can now be read online. News that you failed to watch can be watched again through the internet. It is so accessible that everyone can be informed with just a click away. So much accessible that everyone can publish anything and let millions read it in just a few minutes. In just a snap, an ordinary person is already a journalist.
So what’s the use of studying for four years (some are studying even longer), struggling to improve and reaching the right to be called journalist if anyone can be one?
Well, I want to take it as simple as possible. Indeed with this development, everyone becomes licensed to be called journalist, but being educated about the course makes someone better than the other. It is true that there are better journalists than those who study, but rules are learned at school so this makes them advance than others.
Another thing is that the basic purpose of a journalist is to inform the public about what is happening around them. If an ordinary person meets this, then I will be more than glad to call him or her a journalist. Ethics is far more important than degree title, indeed.
Alteration cannot be erased. As the cliché goes, it is the only permanent thing in this world. Understanding the evolution is the only key to accepting the digital age. Living in 21st century is synonymous to adopting the technology and changes it accompanies. So why worry about those who write online without journalist degree? For as long as truth and just are applied, it is indeed very journalism.

comparison of two different news from two different news programs
News on Q and News Central from Qtv 11 and Studio 23 respectively use the english language as medium in reporting the latest events. Also, these two news programs air late-at-night, having the elite group as their target audience. however, despite these similarities News on Q and News Central still have differences asid from the fact that they are from different TV networks. First is the set. News on Q's set is lighter than that of News Central. The former uses morelights and cool colors which relax the eyes. And the latter is darker since the set has TV monitors which obviously darkens the set, making it look narrow. On June 2, these two programs both reported news about Cory Aquino's health and Michael Jackson's inheritance. On reporting Aquino's health, News on Q had Mariz Umali as the field reporter. She stated Aquino's condition while showing different latest videos concerning the former president's health. The way she presented this news is weak for me because she talked too long and presented three interviews in succession. The information however is clear enough to understand. Other news about Aquino's health were presented by the anchors. News Central Presented Aquino's health similar with the other news program. The reporter however was live on camera. The weak part was that the reporter (who was not introduced and did not even introduced himself) was reading his notes without looking at the camera. this made less communication with the audience. The videos presented were different, News Central had videos on the Mass for Cory and the interviews were not shown in succession. MOreover, other news on the former president's health were reported separately. News about Michael Jackson's inheritance by Mariz Umali of News on Q was very boring. Umali was too monotonous. She also stated information which were not necessary for her topic, these were the planned tribute concert for the late pop star and the incomeof the downloaded songs of Jackson after his death. Umali also showed video of Michael jackson's "You are not Alone" which should not be included in the report. This was presented for more or less 10 seconds without her talking. I think, this news should onlyinclude the last will of Jackson and the updates of the custody of his kids since this were heavier than the other stated information. The planned concert and the income downloaded songs should had been put onto another report since it were much lighter. The bottomline is, the news should be weighed properly to avoid unnecessary information. Joey Reyes of News Central reported Jackson's inheritance very similar to Umali's report. He stated every information the latter reported. However, Reyes did not put any unnecessary videos making his news stronger than the other.
